I am against in Limiting The Power of Ombudsman

I read an article in ABS-CBNNEWS.COM entitled House now open to limiting Ombudsman's powers dated May 17, 2012.

Like what the title says, that the House of Representative are planning to limit the power of the Ombudsman's. We must opposed this plan of House of the Representative or any politician to limit the Power of the Ombudsman.

After the testimonies of Hon. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales in the Impeachment Court regarding the dollar accounts of impeached Chief Justice Renato C. Corona, many of our politician express their concern that the Ombudsman may use for political harassment of the perceive enemies of the administrations.

When former Ombusman Merciditas Gutierrez are still in office, many politician are complaining (mostly opposition) that the Ombudsman are ineffective, not doing her job, that she is biased because she is close to former PGMA and etc. Now that our Ombudsman are doing her job to go after corrupt government official they want to suppress the power of the Ombudsman for their own protections, because they are afraid that it may use against them. They use the issue of Political Harassment to hide their true intention, I believe that they want to limit the power of the Ombudsman for their own benefits.

I strongly believe that as long as you don't do anything wrong and if you are a principled politician, any attempt of political harassment will be futile.

If this politician will continue to limit the power of the Ombudsman, we must join hands to tell them that we are against on it and if they will insist on limiting the power of the Ombudsman. Then, Filipinos must act to opposed such act and remind them that their power is lies on Filipino hand.

MalacaƱang Spokesman Mr. Edwin Lacierda said that “Again, it’s up to the legislature,” in regards of amending the Ombudsman Act. May 21, 2012, Philstar.com published an article entitled "Up to Congress to amend Ombudsman Act". If congress will amend the Ombudsman Act for the betterment of the office and granting additional power, I will definitely support it.

Investing in Philippine Stock Market Online part 2

For those, who missed the part 1 just click this Investing in Philippine Stock Market Online part 1  to read it.

I presume that you are prepared to take the risk and done with your research about investing in stock market before doing this. If not, I extremely suggest that you study or do your research  first before proceeding. Like what they always says that in every investment we do there is a risk to consider. But, I always believe that with proper knowledge you can reduce the risk, if we can't avoid it. The investment that has a small risk, has greater chance to become successful investment. So, If there is someone telling you that investing with them is risk free at all, you better ran away as far as you can because it is most probably a scam.

The main reason why we invest our money in stock is to make it grow. That is why, before we decide to buy stock we must make it sure that it is a good stock. Investing in the stock market itself is very easy, the hardest part of investing in stock market, for me, is how to determine a good stock to invest in or buy.

Now that you have your Online Trading Account, you are ready to invest or buy whatever stock you want.

Let me share my experience on Stock Trading online using BPI Trade as my broker.

Investing on Time Deposit

My experience in Time Deposit Investment

Usually we put our extra cash or savings in the bank, thinking that at least it will earned an interest. I'm sure most of us put it in a regular saving account, like what I did before I tried the Time Deposit.
Regular Saving Account usually bear 0.50% interest rate per annum (It may varies depending on the interest rate of the bank) and there is no restriction on number and amount of withdrawal as long as it has a sufficient fund. The things that we should know about the regular saving account is that; this kind of account has maintaining balance set by the bank , failure to comply with this we have to pay the penalty charge every month; and before our money earned an interest we should meet first the required maintaining balance set by the bank.
Time Deposit giving a much higher interest rate compared to regular saving account, it depends on how much money you will invest and for how long you will kept it in the bank. The other things we should know about this type of account is that; we cannot just withdraw the money anytime we want to, we have to wait until it reach the maturity date, if you really need or wish to get back your money before it reach the maturity date, the bank will give it back to you but they will charge you some penalties for not following the agreed time.
Last August 1, 2011 I have Php11,000.00 cash, I was thinking where should I invest it. Then, it came to my mind the Time Deposit. So, I decided to put my money on it for 35 days at 2.25% per annum at  BPI direct Saving Bank thru online banking.
If you want to know how much will be the interest of the Php11,000.00 after 35 days then let us compute.

Internet Banking

Taking control on my hard earned money.

Before I let my sister handle my finances. Just like other OFW, every end of the month I'm rushing to remittance center to send our hard earned money to our love ones. In my case, I send my remittance on my Metrobank ATM card that I entrusted to my stister custody and every time I sent money on it, I call her and gave instruction on how she  will spent the money, but sometimes my instructions were not followed due to some reason. I realized that I should take control my owned finances if I want to spend it they way I want, and to avoid future conflict to my sister because of money matters.

What I did is, when I went home for my vacation, I open another ATM saving account with BDO and asked my sister to have one also for her personal use. Then, I enrolled my saving account in BDO internet banking service and add the account number of my sister as third party or other person account. Here is the step on how you can add third party/other person account with BDO internet banking:

US Military Base In The Philippines

September 13, 1991, the overwhelming  vote of the Philippine Senate to reject a Treaty that would have lead  to continue the presence of US Military Base in Philippine land, for various reason. Aquino government still tried to  extend the US Military Base in negotiating with US government, but for some reason the negotiation broke down and finally on November 24, 1992 the US Military Forces leave the Philippine Land. ( excerpt from wikipedia.org)

The absence of the US Military Base, make our nation vulnerable from external treat as our own Military Forces is still weak. Due to the failure our previous leaders to enhance our capability to defend our nation for possible external treat and their failure to foresee the future of our beloved country, because their minds are very busy in thinking how can they enriched themselves at the expense of our nation. The best example is former General Carlos Garcia, they were given a chance to do something good for our beloved country, but they fail to do so! Instead he only thinks himself and pocketed a million of pesos from peoples money.

Twenty years after the pull-out of US Military Base in the Philippines, our military defense is one of the weakest in the region compared to our neighboring country. Now, that we are being bullied by the mighty China, because  they know our Military Defense are weak. Our embarrassing moment came! we are now force to seek assistance from US Military to defend our beloved country from external treat.

I think our situation now proves that our decision twenty years ago was a wrong move for us. I think, that our government should start considering the idea of bringing back the US Military Base in Philippine soil. Let them stay for twenty five to thirty years, while we are enhancing our defenses with their help.
