I am against in Limiting The Power of Ombudsman

I read an article in ABS-CBNNEWS.COM entitled House now open to limiting Ombudsman's powers dated May 17, 2012.

Like what the title says, that the House of Representative are planning to limit the power of the Ombudsman's. We must opposed this plan of House of the Representative or any politician to limit the Power of the Ombudsman.

After the testimonies of Hon. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales in the Impeachment Court regarding the dollar accounts of impeached Chief Justice Renato C. Corona, many of our politician express their concern that the Ombudsman may use for political harassment of the perceive enemies of the administrations.

When former Ombusman Merciditas Gutierrez are still in office, many politician are complaining (mostly opposition) that the Ombudsman are ineffective, not doing her job, that she is biased because she is close to former PGMA and etc. Now that our Ombudsman are doing her job to go after corrupt government official they want to suppress the power of the Ombudsman for their own protections, because they are afraid that it may use against them. They use the issue of Political Harassment to hide their true intention, I believe that they want to limit the power of the Ombudsman for their own benefits.

I strongly believe that as long as you don't do anything wrong and if you are a principled politician, any attempt of political harassment will be futile.

If this politician will continue to limit the power of the Ombudsman, we must join hands to tell them that we are against on it and if they will insist on limiting the power of the Ombudsman. Then, Filipinos must act to opposed such act and remind them that their power is lies on Filipino hand.

MalacaƱang Spokesman Mr. Edwin Lacierda said that “Again, it’s up to the legislature,” in regards of amending the Ombudsman Act. May 21, 2012, Philstar.com published an article entitled "Up to Congress to amend Ombudsman Act". If congress will amend the Ombudsman Act for the betterment of the office and granting additional power, I will definitely support it.
